How did you hear about/find us?
The music teacher at West End Academy, Trent Bradford, mentioned it. I don't remember who he knows in the band, dang it!

What is your musical background/history?
At 7 years old, my arms were too short to play trombone, so I got my cousin's trumpet and began lessons. I've played in: the West Valley Junior Youth Band (see photo, C.1967), the drum and bugle corps at Ridgewood Military Academy; Hale Jr. High School orchestra; El Camino Real High School Band (kicked out, Halloween 1976); The Royal Cavaliers Youth Band; 14th U.S. Army Band (sometime drum major), Ft. McClellan, Alabama; Los Angeles Pierce College Band; UAB Community Wind Ensemble; Crestwood Community Band… among others.

What is your favorite “Band Song” to play?
I love most Sousa and marchy stuff; Dragon's America with the triplets ending; Christmas stuff.

What do you do when you are not playing music? (work/hobbies/for fun???)
Pool is a hobby of mine. I had kids at a pretty young age, and my boys live in Birmingham, so we get to hang out and play. I've done advertising art since 1983, but it has become my side hustle; I teach ESL for Birmingham City Schools. I'm certified to teach Spanish, too.

What type of animal/breed of dog/cat/bird/fish/other etc…. best reflects your personality and why?
According to my mom, an ass. Why do you think I got kicked out of band?

What is your superpower?
I almost always get a great parking spot, but I attribute that to a higher power.

Tell us something fun! You know, like “That one time at band camp…” Or elsewhere. (funny anecdote/story/amazing coincidence/hidden talent/celebrity encounter, etc…)
Shook hands with Harry James at Disneyland (1981)
